The daily count is what sends people looking for an alternative. Ten conversions go quickly when you are converting a phone’s worth of MOV clips for a Windows laptop, or turning a folder of recordings into MP3. Here each conversion costs us nothing, because your device does it, so there is nothing to ration.
Why keeping the video on your device matters
Video is personal in a way documents often are not. Family recordings, a child’s school performance, footage from inside your home, a recorded meeting, a medical consultation. CloudConvert takes care over isolation and deletion, and there is no reason to doubt it. The difference is that here there is nothing to isolate or delete, because the file is never sent.
It also saves the upload itself. A 1 GB video on a typical home connection takes minutes to send and more minutes to download again. For a conversion that only repackages the video, those minutes are the whole job.

Is this CloudConvert?
No, and it has no connection to CloudConvert. CloudConvert is a trademark of its owner. This is a separate converter that works inside your browser rather than on a server.
What are CloudConvert's free limits?
On 11 September 2026, CloudConvert's pricing page listed its free plan at 10 conversions per day, with files up to 1 GB. Limits change, so check their pricing page for the current figures.
What happens to a file I give CloudConvert?
It is uploaded and converted on CloudConvert's servers. Its security page says each conversion runs in a separate, isolated container, and that files are kept only for processing and deleted immediately afterwards. That is a careful design. Here the file simply never leaves your device.
Is it as fast as CloudConvert?
Sometimes faster, sometimes much slower. When a video only needs repackaging, such as many MOV to MP4 conversions, it finishes in seconds here with no upload or download to wait for. When it has to be fully re-encoded, your device does that work, and a phone is far slower than a server. For a long 4K video that needs re-encoding, a server wins.
How large a video can it handle?
No limit is set by us. The ceiling is your device: files up to about 2 GB are fine on a desktop, and a phone runs out of memory sooner.
