Privacy policy

This policy explains what Kalio collects and what it does not. It is written to be read. Where something is a genuine limitation or a real disclosure, it says so.

The short version

• Your files never reach us. Every tool processes files inside your browser. There is no upload, so there is nothing for us to store, read, share or lose.
• We do not ask who you are. There are no accounts, no sign-up and no email collection.
• We count page views. Using privacy-friendly analytics that set no cookies and build no profile.
• Optional cookies exist for Google Analytics and, in future, advertising. You choose, and you can change your mind from the footer at any time.

Files and the data you enter

All tools on this site run client-side. When you drop in a PDF, select a photograph, or type a salary into a calculator, that data is handled by JavaScript and WebAssembly executing inside your browser tab, using your own device’s processor and memory.

It is never transmitted to us or to anyone else. We have no server that receives it, no database that records it, and no retention period, because there is nothing to retain. You can verify this: open your browser’s developer tools, select the Network tab, and use any tool. No request carrying your data will appear.

Results are held in your browser’s memory for as long as the page is open and are discarded when you close or reload the tab. Nothing is written to your device except the files you explicitly choose to download.

Analytics

Always on: privacy-friendly page counts

We use a self-hosted, cookieless analytics tool to count page views. It records the page visited, the referring site, an approximate country derived from your IP address, and general device type. It sets no cookie, stores no identifier on your device, and cannot follow you between sites or between visits. Your IP address is used to derive the country and is not retained.

Because it stores nothing on your device and identifies nobody, this runs without a consent prompt. If you would rather it did not run at all, any content blocker or your browser’s tracking protection will stop it, and every tool will continue to work normally.

Optional: Google Analytics

If you accept optional cookies, we load Google Analytics 4. We use it for one purpose: to understand which tools people find valuable, so we know what to build next. It sets cookies and Google acts as an independent controller for the data it receives. See Google’s privacy policy.

Until you accept, Google Consent Mode is set to deny storage and no Google script loads at all. Rejecting costs you nothing - every tool works identically either way.

Advertising

This site does not currently display advertising. We intend to introduce it, because it is what will keep these tools free and free of sign-up walls. When that happens:

• Ad space is already reserved in the layout, so adding ads will not move content around.
• Ads will never appear inside a tool’s working area.
• Visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland will be asked for consent through a Google-certified consent management platform integrated with the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework, as Google requires for serving personalised ads.
• This policy will be updated before any ad is served, not after.

The first two are local storage entries, not cookies, and never leave your device. They exist so the site does not forget your preferences between visits.

Your rights

Under the GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA and similar laws you have rights of access, correction, deletion, portability and objection. In practice there is very little for us to act on, because we hold no personal data that identifies you - no account, no email, no file, no profile.

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA. We honour the Global Privacy Control signal automatically: if your browser sends GPC, advertising and analytics consent is treated as refused and cannot be overridden, even by accepting the banner.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them. Since we collect no personal data from anyone, there is nothing held about a child to delete.

Third parties

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, which processes connection data such as IP addresses to deliver pages and protect against attacks. Analytics is self-hosted on our own infrastructure. Google Analytics loads only with your consent. No other third-party service receives data from this site.

Changes

Material changes will be reflected in the date at the foot of this page, and any change that expands what we collect will be announced through the consent banner before it takes effect.
